MARSHALL, WI - August 15, 2006 -- This year’s Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races, to be held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, August 18-20, are the 33rd annual running of the event. The featured marque this year is Cooper Car, founded in 1947 by Charles and John Cooper. The Cooper rear-engine Formula One and Indianapolis 500 cars revolutionized the sport of motor racing.

Joining Michael Cooper, son of founder John Copper, will be Cooper drivers from around the world. Preeminent amongst them will be Sir Jack Brabham, three-time Formula One Drivers Champion and the only F1 driver ever to win both the drivers and constructors championship in a car of his own construction.

A special tribute will take place during the weekend honoring Brabham, one of the most prolific racers in Cooper history. Two of Brabham’s Drivers Championships, 1959 and 1960, came in a Cooper. Brabham also raced a Cooper in the 1961 Indianapolis 500. A special autograph session with Sir Jack will also be held.
